Bluebonnet Road Trip

Hey y'all!  Well, I promised ya wildflower pics for Flower Friday, and I got tons of em!  Dis Monday, me, Finn, and da mommas headed down to da Texas hill country for our annual wildflower road trip.  And to see my momma's grandparents too!

Bluebonnets are our state flower and we saw tons of em.

But da Indian paintbrush wuz really stealin da show dis year - some of da highways wuz just lined wif red!

I luvs posin in da flowers!

Finley got her pics taken in da flowers too.

Da bluebonnets smell so good!

Nuffin says Texas hill country like prickly pear cactus and bluebonnets!

Dese pics wuz taken on Highway 16, just north of Llano.  At da Baby Head Cemetery - and yeah, da story behind dat name are kinda what ya would eggspect.

We spent da nite in Fredericksburg, and even though I smelled sossidge all over dat town, I didn't get any.  I did get some of Finley's momma's Whataburger Patty Melt and some fries though.  Ya know what I didn't get any of??  Yeah, my momma's Buffalo ranch chicken strip sandwich.  Nuffin gets between her and Whataburger.

Da next morning, da mommas went out on Willow City Loop.  And yup, dose are cowboy boots on da fence posts.

It wuz a beeyootifull day - we drove wif da convertible top down.

Dis lil pink flower are called a winecup.  I guess I's lucky dere ain't flowers called rumcups or Deep-Eddy-Lemon-Vodka cups, my momma would probably steal those.

Dey really ain't kiddin wif da loose livestock sign.

See??  Dinner on the hoof!

These red flowers are called Indian blanket.  Momma says dey usually don't get goin until May, so we wuz surprised to see em.

After we saw da flowers, we headed over to see Nana and Pawpaw.  Dey is my momma' grand peeps and Finley's momma's parents.

Pawpaw are great at handin out food - I finally gots some sossidge!!  And potatoes and cheeze and eggy weggys and biskits.  Momma says if I stayed there for a week I'd be waddlin, well, if I could waddle.

And dis are Nana, I luvs her tons too.  And she said I's a pretty pup!

Anudder pickshure my momma took in Fredericksburg - see how impressive dem Indian paintbrush are dis year??

Dese pink ones are showy primrose.  And me and momma recommends ya sniff em, dey smells really nice.  Hee hee.

Hope ya enjoyed our wildflower pics!  Dere are nuffin like Texas in da springtime!

  10. We're in the last stages of "yellow season". The Palo Verde trees (it means green skins and the bark is green) are yellow with blossoms. Even the weeds are yellow, you can't escape it. We'll trade you yellow for some red.
