Sad News About My Grandpa

Hey y'all. We has been havin a tuff week (which ya probably already know if ya is Facebook friends wif my momma).  My grandpa (Brinley and Finley's daddy) has been not doin good.  Last week he wuz diagnozed with Type 2 Dye-a-beat-ees - we thought dat eggsplained some of da weakness, balance problems, and confushun he wuz havin.  He started on some medicines, but he wuzn't gettin better - his confushun just seemed to be gettin worse. So Brinley's momma had him go back to da doctor, who ordered an MRI.  Well, he has a colloid cyst in his brain - basically it are a non-cancerous tumor that is pressing on his brain and causin hydrocephalus and all of his confushun.  All da mommas is so scared. He is sposed to have surgery on Monday or Tuesday to remove it.  But da neurologist said there is only a 50% chance he'll improve mentally from where he is now.

And right now is not good.  See, he's a real smart guy - he's a tax lawyer and can do all kinds of complicated stuff.  Today, he wuz havin trouble remembering why he wuz in da hospital and couldn't remember his birthday and anniversary sometimes.  Next week will be his 60th birthday, and he'll spend it in the hospital recovering from surgery.  We're all so scared - we just want him back to being himself, we are hopin dat da damage isn't permanent.

So we could use all da POTP, good thoughts, prayers, good vibes, whatefur ya believe in.  His name are Cameron.  We'll take it all.  Everyone who knows him says he is just da nicest guy - he wuz always volunteering and helpin udder peeps out (unlike my momma and Brinley's momma - BOL).

Dis really are a case of somefin awful happening to someone wonderful. It are breakin my momma's heart - she just wants her daddy back to how he's always been. She are worried dat if she ever has human kids, they won't know their grandpa the way he wuz.

So if we're not commenting a whole lot on blogs, that's why. Momma are gonna still be bloggin for me. She may be commentin a lot since it are a good distrackshun and she are beyond stressed, she duzn't really know.  So fanks for all your POTP, prayers, good thoughts, and your friendship.  It really means a lot to us.

That is scary indeed...and sad to see your beloved Dad and grandpa so sick and not well in so many other ways too.

You are all in our thoughts and we send fervent prayers for him. To be well again, to come through that scary surgery and to recover a lot or maybe even most of his brain capacity.

Pipo adds loud purrs and MJF some good terrier bark and licks.

We love you all and we hope and pray this nightmare will eventually be a distant memory...

  11. How terrible. Sending hugs and prayers.
FYI - My cousin had the same symptoms and same type of tumor on his brain. After trying other remedies that did not help much, he had it removed and was better for a while, but the symptoms returned. His nephew (who works in the medical industry) found another doctor who drained the site with fantastic results. He periodically has to go back and have it done again, but most of the time is his old self. While this may not work for you, the real point is not to despair and to talk to other doctors if the first solution does not work. Hoping for the best. Kathy (along with my 4 cats)

  26. We are so sorry to hear about this. We have two friends also about that age who have had hearing problems in one ear and it turned out to also be benign tumors. One had surgery, but it did not bring the hearing back, the other is doing radiation to smash the tumor. Such scary stuff. So sorry for your family!
