X-Ray Update

Well today I went to da vet for some x-rays.  And da news are . . . well, pretty much nuffin.  A lil bit of spinal arthur-eye-tis, but nuffin dat should be causin me da problems I got.  Da vet keeps talkin bout surgery, but momma are not wantin to put me through surgery and rehab when we don't even know if it would fix da problem.  It might be an ACL problem, but it doesn't really eggsplain all of what are goin on.  Because obviously, both of my back legs are bein effected, not just da one.  Nobody can tell us dat da surgery would make me walk again, and I would have to put up wif months of pain and rehab.  Plus, I are 13 1/2, so dere are all dose concerns too.  :(  It are just really frustamaratin to not know what's goin on, whatefur it are are not showin up on xrays.

Momma are plannin on makin me an appointment wif da chiropractor next week, either they'll be able to do somefin and we'll see results, or we won't.  Dey's also plannin on gettin me wheels so I can do my bizness more independently and move round better.  Well, just movin round at all would be a BIG improvement.

So, since I are gonna have a wheelchair (well, da pup vershun anyways), do I gets to be governor of Texas??  Or maybe I can be president like FDR.  Or just be a genius like Stephen Hawking.  Wait, I already are genius since I get treats just for bein cute.

Speakin of which, I got to wear my new jacket today, so I wuz #prettyinplaid.  Yeah, somefin bout plaid looks really good on us Scottish pups.  Arooooo!

  1. What a pretty plaid! My Mom got all wonked up when she fell down icy stairs and tore a miniscus and messed up a disk in her back. It hurt her even to walk around the house. The chiropractor and the acupuncturist made a huge difference and she's back power walking and biking again, which we never thought we'd see. I do hope you find something that works for you.

  2. So you know I dig plaid since I'm Scot. I know it's frustrating not knowing what's going on with your legs so hang in there and I'll be your prayer warrior.

    Aroo to you,

  12. Hi Whitley, when my back went, my peeps arranged for an MRI to be done. X-rays are limited and can only show so much and certainly should not be the basis for surgery. Your mom is smart - do not authorize exploratory surgery for all the reasons your mom has cited above. The MRI cost my mom and dad about $1500. Your mom might pay less or more but if done, she and the vet people will know what the issue is likely to be. And from there, be able to plot out a course of action or no action t all (status quo). We would also urge you to seriously consider getting a set of wheels from Eddie's wheels. We really believe in a set of wheels made just for the intended user. It's like a custom made suit for your mom versus an off-the-rack suit. It'll fit better. #1 and #2 are no big deal. I'm a boy dog and my peeps have expressed my #1 and used child suppositories to stimulate #2 that they catch on sheets of bathroom tissue that gets flushed. These are no big deals. If your mom is tough enough to handle a carriage, this will be no big deal. Contact my peeps at mydogsam01@gmail.com if you need anything. Okay. Hey, I would date you in a heart beat Whitley. Love Sam.

  13. Oh yeah, get the stirrups if you order from Eddie's Wheels. It'll keep your rear leggies from rubbing the ground. Road rash is not good. Sam.

  17. What about trying acupuncture? My mom heard horror stories of human chiropractor from her physiotherapist... well, the chiropractor injured the patient's neck instead of making it better! I have not tried acupuncture myself though, just another option for you to consider.
