I'm a Polar Bear!

Well, we is in a Code Red emergency here. At least dat are what da city are saying. They called saying that people could be without power for days since multiple power plants are out. They are also doing rolling blackouts, but they are not always rolling the power back on. Luckily, we haven't lost power - grandma thinks it might be becuz we is very close to a fire station and they won't cut power to a fire station on purpose.

It's sposed to be like 0 or 1 tonite wif windchills of below -15.

The snow and ice are NOT being nice to Finley. She ackshually kinda likes it which surprised da mommas since she is so thin and arthritic and so naked from her allergies. But she is almost 15 and has very thin skin and the snow/ice is literally cutting her skin and making her bleed when she goes out. If she would use pee pads, we would be doing that, but she won't. So da mommas just try to get her to go quick and then get her cleaned up and warm when she comes back in.

Brinley are not a big fan of da snow either. I think she's seen enuf and she seems to prefer a warm spot by da fire.

Me? I'm a polar bear! I just want to sit in da snow and run in da snow and play in da snow. Momma says I are nuts. If it wuz like 25 or somefin, she says I might get to play in it more, but it are dangerously cold, so I hafta come in.

It's so cold that there wuz ice on the pool (even though it wuz running) this morning. Grandma had to break it up this morning and da mommas is gonna hafta sleep in shifts tonite becuz if we lose power, they gotta go out and immediately drain da pool equipment becuz otherwise it will ice and pipes will break.

I think da humans have had it wif da cold, but I wish I could get some more play time.

  1. We think you are brave to be a polar bear. We are so sorry for Finley. You spend years teaching a dog to pee outside and they won't pee inside when you need them. We hope you power stays on.

  2. Oh man! Sounds like there is a lot of work livin' in the super duper cold weathers. I'm with you Kinley, I likes the snow! wells...what I remember of it. I'll keep my paws crossed that your pipes make it through this kerazy cold snap, and Finley is able to pee without too much drama {{hugs}}}

  3. You guys should learn to ice skate. I don't know-it was in the 60s here today in Arizona.

  4. Poor Finley. Hope she doesn't freeze.
And we sure hope your pipes don't freeze either.
Or that your power would go off, how awful for those who have to suffer with this mess.

Kinley, I, Benji, don't mind the snow that much at all, in fact, I come inside and look like a half white furred pup, BOL! Dalton is more like Brinley...do what needs doing and run back in to the warmth!

Stay warm!! We are pawyering for you and sending warm thoughts.

  6. Oh dear, we never thought about all the pools having issues in the south. Everyone closes theirs in September here. Enjoy playing in the snow, it will disappear soon. We have another morning walk coming up at -20 with a windchill of -30, but after this it will start to get above zero again for the first time in 5 days. We are ready now that we have had our fill of Arctic air. Hope your pool does alright.

    1. So far, it's been ok. Da mommas have been breaking up the ice every couple of hours. We know up north people drain their pools, but you aren't supposed to do that here. Course we aren't supposed to have it this cold either.

  7. Your temps are lower than ours and we live way up north in NY state! We are keeping our paws crossed that your weather improves soon.

  8. Oh dear, poor Finley, we hope it warms up soon so the snow and ice don't hurt her skin any more.
Gail says it's hard to feel too sorry about problems associated with having a swimming pool in their back yard. (In the UK that is an almost unheard of luxury!)

  9. We've been watching the news about all that crazy weather lately. We get our share of blizzards, ice storms, and wind storms here in WNY every winter. But never knew it could get so cold where you are! We hope things go back to normal for you soon.
